We’ve been drooling over the past “leaked” images for some time now. Well now you can salivate all over the full Xbox 360 in all its glory. Someone was able to snap some quick shots of the new Xbox at the L.A. unveiling last night – seems to me someone has been playing Splinter Cell a little too much. The Xbox 360 pictured has the hard drive attached on the top as previously speculated, white wireless controller, Xbox Live headset, a camera attachment and a remote control with a very interesting windows logo! Possession of Next-Gen Consoles

With all the rumors about next-gen consoles we went searching for some games that are set to be released for them. We’re still searching, but we came across one game which looks pretty neat, called Possession. Now, zombies are very popular whether they are in games or movies, but this game has a twist. No more saving yourself and others from the dreaded zombies of “City X” because in Possession you are the enslaver and your goal is to start a zombie apocalypse. The main character was once human, but through the game’s story you start to see why he’s after everyone. Right now the plan for this game is to be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, and eventually PC.

Looks like Bill Gates stole a bit of the thunder from the Xbox team who plan to announce the console next week live on MTV:
The remark, apparently inadvertent, came as Gates talked about consumer adoption of high-definition displays, which Microsoft is incorporating into its strategy as it takes on market leader Sony Corp. and its dominant PlayStation franchise. “What will the year of high-definition be?” Gates asked, rhetorically. He then answered the question by saying that it would be tempting to think of it as “this year, because we’re going to ship this next Xbox.”
But we all knew the 360 was coming this year anyway, right?

E3 2005 Two Weeks Away

That’s right, y’all. The 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo is right around the corner, and this one is going to be huge. The Xbox 360 will be there in full effect, and we will be there when Microsoft presents the console to the press. Nintendo will finally let the Revolution out of the bag, unless they choose to not show it for fear that competitors will steal their ideas. They will also be bringing Link and Zelda to the party. Last, but not least, Sony is set to show their PlayStation 3, powered by the almighty Cell processor. These are the obvious E3 attractions, but there will be many more things happening during those three days. We want to know what you guys want to see us cover while we are down at the big show. Game developers will be there in full force. Anything you are interested in seeing us cover? Let us know, and we will do our best to oblige.
Microsoft’s E3 Xbox Briefing Invitation

If you were still on the fence about whether that Xbox 360 logo we posted was actually something Microsoft has been considering, check out their press invitation for their E3 press briefing. It it about the size of a CD case, with the front featuring a mirrored background with the multiple green circles. The difference here is that there are about three times as many circles than were in the logo. This thing is so cool that I hope it isn’t something that needs to be turned in to gain access to the Xbox 360 E3 show. Of course, if I do have to part with it to get in, I will do so with glee.
We have seen the images of the actual console, and now we have what we think will end up being the official logo. The logo looks similar to the current Xbox graphic, replacing the large green “X” with the green “ring of light” circles.

Will Poole, Microsoft VP, confirmed on Wednesday that the controller of the Xbox 2/360 will be compatible with Microsoft’s next operating system, Longhorn. Just how it will be used on the PC has yet to be known. Will the next Xbox blur the lines between home entertainment and personal computer just like Mr. Gates dreams? Sure seems like it. Needless to say, we will not know for sure just what role the Xbox 360’s controller will play in the next Microsoft OS for possibly months to come.

Madden Next Generation Trailer

In case you’ve missed the newest Madden commercial, here it is. EA Sports is showing off their next gen Madden on their web site along with five beautiful screenshots of the game. This is all to show off what the next generation consoles can do and to get us drooling in anticipation for the coming weeks. If you missed the commercial during the NFL draft, then head on over to EA Sports and check it out – remember to wipe after you’re finished.

NEC has announced that they will be provided eDRAM for the next generation Xbox system graphics system. This partnership is a great step for the Xbox because this partnership will help provide incredible graphics and great High-Definition content.

Xbox 2/360 Showing Signs of Backward Compatibility

We are all itching to know if this is going to be possible. It’s all speculation so far and no official word in sight until the official MTV debut. However, this blurb on an Xbox Live questionnaire seems to be saying a bit more than it is letting on:
Xbox Live is an online gaming service that works across both the current Xbox system and the future Xbox 2. You will be able to play online and compete against others across both consoles. If you are playing an Xbox game on Live you will be able to compete against people playing that same game on Xbox 2.
So what does this mean? Well it could be just a re-release of Live games currently on the Xbox (doubtful) or that the Xbox 360 will ship with the ability to play current Xbox Live games - hence, backwards compatibility.
